1. What does a Personal Trainer Do?

It is the personal trainer’s (My) job to assess your current physical and mental state, establish very specific goals, design an individualized program, and do whatever it takes to keep you on track towards getting results. During our training sessions my focus is on you; I will demonstrate exercises with proper form and technique.

2. What Happens In A Typical Personal Training Session?

Generally, the first few sessions are spent working out the kinks in the workout- establishing weights and time limits. But don’t let this discourage you! It’s just the way Personal Training operates, to ensure that you get the results you are aiming for. It takes time to understand your capabilities and limitations. Each session and each workout will build upon your first few sessions. Keep in mind if you are already very fit and don’t struggle with motivation, we’ll push those muscles right away!

3. How many days per week do I need to work out?

Depending on your health and fitness goals, you’ll need to commit to a minimum of 3 days of exercise each week to see results. Any fewer than that and each workout will feel like you’re starting all over again each and every time.

4. What if I never workedout before?

Don’t let your fitness level intimidate you from starting a fitness program. Everyone has to start somewhere! I have worked with many different people at fitness levels across the spectrum. Based on your goals we will create a program to fit you so that you can get the most out of your training. Working out is supposed to be challenging and it is a time to push yourself to do things you never thought you could before.

5. Why can’t I just do cardio?

While cardiovascular training is great for building strong hearts and lungs, it doesn’t provide the stimulus your body needs to build bigger, stronger muscles and bones. Why? Our bodies adapt fairly quickly to the load we ask them to move; unless you’re gaining weight, your legs will always be subject to the same load and moving that load through the same, limited range of motion.

Adding strength training to your program allows you to increase the load on your legs, change the range of motion you move your joints through and target muscles that you don’t typically use during

6. How quickly will I see the results of my training?

Expect to FEEL the results of your training sooner than you SEE them. People who start a new exercise program and are consistent in getting their workouts done typically report improvements in sleep, mood and energy levels within two to three weeks. Changes in body composition often take longer to notice; the more consistent you are with your workouts and the closer you adhere to your nutrition plan, the sooner the results will become noticeable (to you and to others too!).

7. Why should I pay a gym fee on top of paying training fees?

Paying a gym fee can be a deal breaker for some people because they already have a gym membership. But are you getting the results you want from working out there alone? Have you tried a personal trainer from a corporate gym and gotten the results you wanted? If you haven’t, then it’s time to come train with Lauren Kate Austin.

8. What if I don't live in Houston?

Can I still get a customized nutrition program? – Of course! All it takes it to submit an inquiry here on LaurenKateAustin.com and I will get started on it immediately! I will require a little bit of personal information to create it and you tell me what foods you enjoy eating and I will do the rest!
